What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions EV5 shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 1,030 EV5 comments posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

Can I buy one in Canada?

Availability is the question viewers asked most, often from outside Canada. Kia Canada opened reservations in December 2025 and builds Canadian EV5s at its Gwangju plant in South Korea; the Light FWD trim follows in the fourth quarter of 2026. Canadian buyers are already taking delivery: "I bought an EV5 Land FWD."

Take this to your test drive

Ask which trims and colours are on the ground now, and the delivery time for the one you want.

02

Which battery and drive should I choose?

The Light trim uses the 60.3 kWh battery; every other trim uses the 81.4 kWh battery, with front- or all-wheel drive. One viewer explained the choice: "EV5 LAND trim with FWD for the win! Under $50k so you get $5k EVAP, plus very similar to GT. No need for an extra $20k to get GT."

Take this to your test drive

Map your longest regular winter trip and pick the battery and drive that cover it with room to spare.

03

How far will it go?

Range is the number EV shoppers check first, and winter driving and all-wheel drive come up in 47 EV5 comments. Kia Canada estimates up to 439 km (273 mi) for the all-wheel drive trims, and MotorMouth's review notes list up to 457 km (284 mi) for the long-range FWD, 335 km (208 mi) for the Light and up to 402 km (250 mi) for the GT.

Take this to your test drive

Ask whether the trim you want has a heat pump, and plan for winter range on your longest regular trip.
