What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions Palisade shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 2,136 comments on MotorMouth's Palisade videos posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

V6 or hybrid?

Hybrid power is the biggest theme, raised in 441 comments. The V6 is a 3.5-litre with 287 hp and 260 lb-ft and an eight-speed automatic. The new hybrid pairs a 2.5-litre turbo four with a 1.65 kWh battery for a combined 329 hp and 339 lb-ft, with a six-speed automatic. Both run on regular fuel and come with all-wheel drive in Canada. One hybrid owner explained the choice: "The real reason to get the hybrid is performance not gas mileage."

Take this to your test drive

Drive the V6 and the hybrid on the same route, including a highway merge, and try the hybrid in Sport mode as well as Eco.

02

What does it cost?

Price and value come up in 314 comments. MotorMouth's review notes list the V6 at $53,699 MSRP for the eight-seat Preferred Trend, $57,799 for the XRT Pro and $62,499 for the Ultimate Calligraphy. The hybrid is $60,499 for the Luxury and $65,699 for the Ultimate Calligraphy. Zack and Andrea's later notes list the hybrid at $63,544 and $68,744 including freight, PDI and fees.

Take this to your test drive

Ask for the all-in price with freight and fees, and decide early whether you want eight seats, since the top trims come with captain's chairs only.

03

How much fuel does it use?

Fuel economy comes up in 161 comments. Natural Resources Canada rates the hybrid at 8.1 L/100 km (29 mpg US) combined, the V6 at 11.9 L/100 km (20 mpg US) and the XRT Pro at 12.7 L/100 km (19 mpg US). In their own hybrid test drive, Zack and Andrea saw between 8.5 and 8.7 L/100 km (28 and 27 mpg US) combined.

Reset the trip computer on your test drive, include highway driving, and accelerate the way you normally would.

04

Is the third row usable?

Space and rear seats come up in 78 comments. MotorMouth's notes list 1,052 mm (41.4 in) of front legroom, 1,092 mm (43.0 in) in the second row and 815 mm (32.1 in) in the third row, with a larger third-row window. Cargo space is 541 L (19.1 cu ft) behind the third row, 1,311 L (46.3 cu ft) behind the second row and 2,455 L (86.7 cu ft) overall. Available features include a power-folding third row and heated, four-way power third-row seats. One shopper listed what impressed them at the dealership: "Fully power second & third row seats with the relaxation mode on the 1st & 2nd row. Heated seats for all 3 rows in addition to the ventilation offered on the 1st & second row."

Bring car seats and sit in the third row yourself, with the second row set where your family would use it.

05

Does the new design stand out?

Styling is discussed in 439 comments. The new Palisade has a bolder, commanding design with LED projector headlamps, power-folding mirrors and 20- or 21-inch wheels. It is up to 5,090 mm (200.4 in) long, according to Hyundai Canada. One viewer wrote after seeing one: "Just saw the Palisade in person and it looks mighty impressive. Exudes quality and luxury."

See it in daylight in the colour you want, and compare the standard look with the XRT Pro and Ultimate Calligraphy.

06

What is inside?

Interior and tech come up in 360 comments. Leatherette upholstery is standard in Canada, with leather or Nappa leather available, along with seven USB-C ports, in-car intercom, rear-seat quiet mode, manual rear sunshades and over-the-air updates. Available features include a head-up display, a 14-speaker Bose system, front relaxation seats, ventilated second-row seats, a dual-pane sunroof, a 115-volt outlet and a front and rear dashcam. One viewer wrote: "I find Palisade is a beautiful interior."

Sit in more than one trim to compare seats and upholstery, and try the intercom and quiet mode with someone in the back.

07

Can it tow, and what does the XRT Pro add?

Towing comes up in 56 comments and winter driving in 54. The V6 can tow 5,000 lb (2,268 kg) and the hybrid 4,000 lb (1,814 kg). The XRT Pro adds 213 mm (8.4 in) of ground clearance, a rear electronic limited-slip differential, an off-road mode, downhill brake control, a tow mode, a factory hitch, recovery hooks and 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires. Every Palisade has an auto-levelling rear suspension and snow, mud and sand modes.

Bring the weight of your trailer, ask which hitch and wiring come with the trim you choose, and budget for winter tires.

08

How does it drive?

Engine and power come up in 278 comments. Zack and Andrea's notes describe the Palisade as smooth, comfortable and easy to manoeuvre for its size, with an acoustically laminated windshield and front and rear windows for a quiet cabin. He found the hybrid's power very good, more than the V6. One shopper wrote mid test drive: "Test driving Palisade right now. Amazing car"
