What Canadian shoppers ask

04

Is the third row usable?

Space and rear seats come up in 93 comments. Seven seats with a second-row bench are standard, and the Ultimate Calligraphy has six seats with captain's chairs. MotorMouth's notes list 762 mm (30.0 in) of third-row legroom, 413 L (14.6 cu ft) of cargo space behind the third row and 1,147 L (40.5 cu ft) behind the second row. One viewer pointed out a detail: "The result is a "good" seat with decent cushion height, while offering outstanding two-row SUV cargo room when folded as the seat not only folds flat, but low."

Bring car seats and try the third row yourself, then fold it to check the flat load floor with your usual cargo.

05

What about the boxy design?

Styling is the theme viewers discuss most, in 435 comments. The Santa Fe has a boxy, upright design that Zack and Andrea say helps visibility and space inside, with LED headlamps and taillamps, roof rails and 18-inch wheels, with 20-inch wheels available. Power-folding mirrors are available, which helps when parking on the street. One viewer wrote: "Totally glad Hyundai went back to the original boxy Santa Fe trim and improved it. Love the look. Hope all car manufacturers offer the boxy trim in future. Looks great and is far more functional than the sloped previous version due to wide rear cargo opening."

See it in daylight in the colour you want, and open the tailgate to check the wide cargo opening.

06

What is inside?

Interior and tech come up in 217 comments. The cabin has a floating centre console and a column shifter that keeps the console open, with cloth upholstery standard and leatherette, leather and Nappa leather available. Available features include a 12.3-inch digital driver display, single or dual wireless charging, a 12-speaker Bose system, surround and blind view monitors, a head-up display, ventilated front seats and a dual-pane sunroof. An owner wrote about the cabin: "I love how quiet it rides and the interior materials are far above imo. My friends can't believe it's a Hyundai and are most surprised by it."

Sit in more than one trim to compare seats and screens, and pair your phone on the test drive.

07

Can it tow, and is it ready for winter?

08

How does it drive?

Engine and transmission questions come up in 191 and 150 comments. Zack and Andrea's notes describe the Santa Fe Hybrid as smooth, refined and comfortable, with quiet starts from a stop and a well-insulated cabin thanks to an acoustically laminated windshield and laminated front door glass. One owner wrote: "I just bought the hybrid Santa Fe with the 6 speed transmission and seems to work great love it."
