What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions Outlander PHEV shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 1,162 comments on MotorMouth's Outlander PHEV videos posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

What changed for 2026?

Plug-in and hybrid questions lead the conversation, in 454 comments. For 2026 the battery grows to 22.7 kWh from 20 kWh and electric range rises to 72 km (45 mi) from 61 km (38 mi). Combined output rises by 49 hp to 297 hp, according to MotorMouth's review notes, and the steering and suspension are retuned. Inside there are new materials, a larger centre armrest bin, relocated cupholders, a redesigned phone charger and newly added ventilated front seats.

Take this to your test drive

If you are trading in an earlier Outlander PHEV, compare the electric range and the new console layout on the test drive.

02

How far will it go, and what will it use?

Fuel economy comes up in 67 comments. Mitsubishi Canada rates the 2026 Outlander PHEV at up to 72 km (45 mi) on electricity and 690 km (429 mi) in total on a charge and a tank. Its ratings are 3.2 Le/100 km (73.5 MPGe) combined, and 8.6 L/100 km (27 mpg US) once the battery is depleted. An owner of the previous model year wrote: "Over the last year of owning a 2025 Outlander PHEV I average 1.7l/100km with 16500km on the odometer. I love this SUV."

Take this to your test drive

Map your usual daily driving against the 72 km (45 mi) electric range, and ask how often you would need the gas engine.

03

How do I charge it?

Charging comes up often in owner comments. Mitsubishi Canada lists about 16.5 hours on a household outlet, about 6.5 hours on a Level 2 charger and about 29 minutes to 80% on a CHAdeMO DC fast charger. MotorMouth's review notes list a 3.3 kW onboard charger. A Vancouver owner of a 2023 model wrote: "Being able to charge our vehicle to 80% in 30 minutes is amazing."

Winter driving and all-wheel drive come up in 75 comments. Super All-Wheel Control is standard, with seven drive modes including snow and mud. A heat pump is standard, and MotorMouth's review notes say a new battery cooling system improves thermal management, with the longer electric range a help in winter.
