What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions Trailseeker shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 368 comments on MotorMouth's 2026 Trailseeker review posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

What does it cost?

Subaru Canada priced the all-new 2026 Trailseeker on January 15, 2026: the Touring is $54,995, the Limited $57,995 and the Premier $60,995 MSRP. Subaru Canada said it would go on sale at dealers nationwide in spring 2026.

Take this to your test drive

Ask for the all-in price with freight and fees, and confirm which federal and provincial incentives apply to the trim you want on the day you buy.

02

How far will it go?

Subaru Canada estimates up to 420 km (261 mi) for the 2026 Trailseeker in ideal conditions. This is a preliminary figure, subject to final confirmation and not an official NRCan rating, and Subaru notes range can drop by more than 50 percent in non-ideal conditions.

Take this to your test drive

Map your longest regular winter trip, and ask the dealer whether the official NRCan rating has been published.

03

How fast does it charge?

The Trailseeker has a NACS port and battery preconditioning for fast charging in warm or cold weather. MotorMouth's notes list DC fast charging at up to 150 kW, about 30 minutes from 10 to 80 percent, and an 11 kW onboard charger that takes about 8 hours from 10 to 100 percent on Level 2. Plug and Charge starts a session automatically at select networks.

Take this to your test drive

Ask whether an adapter or a home charger is included, and try a fast charger near your home if you can.

04

Is it the electric Outback?

Zack and Andrea titled their review the closest EV to an Outback. The Trailseeker has standard raised roof rails, a six-star illuminated logo and three-dimensional SUBARU lettering on the rear gate, and it is more than 150 mm (5.9 in) longer than the Solterra, with a larger cargo area and a taller roof.

Take this to your test drive

If you are weighing it against an Outback, bring the same gear to both test drives and compare the cargo areas.

05

How does it drive?

With about 375 net hp from two motors, the Trailseeker has strong acceleration. Zack and Andrea note a softer suspension, a quiet cabin and steering that is easy to manoeuvre in tight spots, with regenerative braking controlled by paddles on the steering wheel.

Take this to your test drive

Try the regenerative braking paddles in traffic, and drive over a rough road to feel the ride.

06

Is it ready for winter and rough roads?

Standard Symmetrical AWD comes from a motor on each axle, with X-MODE Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes, Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control. Ground clearance is 210 mm (8.3 in), and Zack and Andrea note a radiant leg heater for the front seats that works with the heated seats.

Take this to your test drive

Budget for winter tires, and ask the dealer to show you X-MODE and the battery preconditioning settings.

07

How much space is there?

MotorMouth's notes list 1,069 mm (42.1 in) of front legroom and 897 mm (35.3 in) in the rear, the same as the Solterra, with up to 886 L (31.3 cu ft) behind the rear seat. Subaru Canada describes a flat floor and a wide centre console, and the Trailseeker can tow up to 1,500 kg (3,307 lb).

Take this to your test drive

Bring your usual cargo, bikes or camping gear, and fold the rear seat to check the load floor.

08

What tech comes with it?

Every 2026 Trailseeker has a 14-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two 15W wireless phone chargers and two fast USB-C chargers for the rear seat. Standard driver assists include EyeSight, a panoramic view monitor, Emergency Stop Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Change Assist and Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control.

Take this to your test drive

Pair two phones on the chargers, and ask the dealer to demonstrate Traffic Jam Assist and Lane Change Assist on the highway.
