What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions Model 3 shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 2,178 comments on MotorMouth's Model 3 videos posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

What does it cost?

Price and value come up in 599 comments on MotorMouth's Model 3 videos, more than any other theme. MotorMouth's 2026 notes list the Model 3 Premium RWD at $39,490, the Premium AWD at $49,990 and the Performance AWD at $74,990 MSRP in Canada. Delivery fees, taxes and any incentive are on top of or off these prices, and Tesla adjusts prices often. One viewer wrote after the review: "Tesla would never have dropped the Model 3 to $39,000 CAD without the threat of players like BYD coming to town."

Price your exact build on tesla.com on the day you order, and ask which federal and provincial EV incentives apply to it.

02

Which version should I choose?

All three share the cabin and most equipment. The Premium AWD adds a second motor, more range and quicker acceleration; the Performance adds adaptive suspension, sport seats, 20-inch wheels and 0 to 100 km/h in 3.1 seconds. The Premium RWD comes with heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and a rear touchscreen, which MotorMouth's notes call an incredible list at this price.

Drive the RWD and the AWD back to back, and decide whether the extra range and traction are worth $10,500 to you.

03

How far will it go on a charge?

Electric range and charging come up in 489 comments. Tesla estimates up to 463 km (288 mi) for the Premium RWD, 570 km (354 mi) for the Premium AWD and 505 km (314 mi) for the Performance. The RWD's LFP battery can be charged to 100% for daily use, according to MotorMouth's notes.

Plan around your longest regular winter trip and leave a margin.

04

How fast does it charge?

At a Tesla Supercharger the Premium RWD charges at up to 175 kW and adds about 259 km (161 mi) in 15 minutes; the Premium AWD charges at up to 250 kW and adds about 277 km (172 mi), according to MotorMouth's notes.

Take this to your test drive

Check the Superchargers on your usual routes, and price a Level 2 charger for home.

05

Is it ready for a Canadian winter?

Winter and all-wheel drive come up in 121 comments. Heated front and rear seats and a heated steering wheel are standard. The AWD versions add a second motor for traction. Ground clearance is 137 mm (5.4 in), and a little less on the Performance, according to MotorMouth's notes.

Budget for winter tires, and check the clearance at the end of your driveway.

06

How much room is there?

Space comes up in 23 comments. Front legroom is 1,024 mm (40.3 in) and rear legroom 960 mm (37.8 in). The trunk holds 595 L (21 cu ft), 682 L (24.1 cu ft) overall, plus an 88 L (3.1 cu ft) front trunk, according to MotorMouth's notes.

Load what you usually carry into the trunk; the opening is narrower than an SUV hatch.

07

What is it like to live with?

The cabin and technology come up in 158 comments. Almost every control is in the 15.4-inch centre screen, with no separate driver display. MotorMouth's notes describe a typical EV drive, quick, quiet and comfortable over bumps, but regenerative braking has only one level and cannot be switched off. Full Self-Driving can be added by subscription. One owner wrote: "I was so hesitant buying a Tesla. I finally got a model 3 and man, don’t think I could ever go back to ICE cars."

Take this to your test drive

Spend time with the screen controls while parked, and try the strong regenerative braking in traffic.

08

What does the warranty cover?

The vehicle warranty is 4 years or 80,000 km (49,710 mi). The battery and drive unit are covered for 8 years or 160,000 km (99,419 mi) on the RWD and 8 years or 192,000 km (119,303 mi) on AWD models, with at least 70% battery capacity retained, according to MotorMouth's notes.
