The questions Highlander EV shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 849 comments on MotorMouth's first look at the next-generation Highlander posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

What will it cost, and when can I get one?

Toyota Canada says pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date, and the next-generation Highlander is expected on sale in early 2027.

Take this to your test drive

Wait for the published price, then ask for the all-in price with freight, PDI and fees and which EV incentives apply.

02

Which battery and trim should I choose?

The XLE FWD has the 77.0 kWh battery and 221 hp. The XLE AWD comes with either battery, and the XLE Premium AWD and Limited AWD use the 95.8 kWh battery, all with 338 hp. The XLE AWD with the larger battery has the longest estimated range, 511 km (318 mi), according to Toyota Canada.

Take this to your test drive

Decide how much range you need before choosing; the upper trims trade some range for equipment.

03

How far will it go on a charge?

Toyota Canada estimates 458 km (285 mi) for the XLE FWD, 431 km (268 mi) or 511 km (318 mi) for the XLE AWD depending on battery, and 473 km (294 mi) for the XLE Premium AWD and Limited AWD, at 100% charge in mild weather.

05

How many seats, and how usable is the third row?

Most trims have second-row captain's chairs for six; the XLE AWD offers a bench for seven. The wheelbase is 206 mm (8.1 in) longer than the outgoing Highlander, to make more room inside, according to MotorMouth's notes.

Take this to your test drive

Sit in the third row yourself once it reaches showrooms, and bring child seats if you use them.

06

How much cargo space is there?

Toyota Canada gives 1,290 L (45.6 cu ft) behind the second row and 450 L (15.9 cu ft) behind the third. The third row folds flat with a lever.

With the third row up, try loading a stroller or a week of groceries.

07

Can it tow?

MotorMouth's notes rate AWD models to tow 3,500 lb (1,588 kg) and the FWD 2,600 lb (1,179 kg).

Take this to your test drive

Ask how towing affects range, and plan charging stops accordingly.
