What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions Atlas Cross Sport shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 673 Atlas Cross Sport comments posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

What is new for 2027?

Styling comes up in 125 comments. The 2027 Atlas Cross Sport has all-new sheet metal, double-stacked LED headlamps, double light lines and an illuminated VW badge on all but the base trim, a tailgate that now sits flush with the rear bumper and 3D taillights. Silver accents replace the piano black trim used on the three-row Atlas, and it is 130 mm (5.1 in) shorter and 53 mm (2.1 in) lower than the Atlas. One current owner wrote after the first look: "I love my Atlas Cross Sport but that 2027... simply WOW."

See it in daylight in the colour you want, and compare the wheel sizes on the trims you are considering.

02

Is the turbo four enough?

Engine and power come up in 133 comments. Every Canadian Atlas Cross Sport uses the latest EA888 evo5 2.0-litre turbo four with 282 hp and 258 lb-ft, 13 hp more than the outgoing model and the most powerful engine ever fitted to the model, with an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. MotorMouth's review notes say it also improves fuel economy over the outgoing model.

Take this to your test drive

Take it up a highway on-ramp with passengers on board, and try the drive modes through the driver experience dial.

03

Is a hybrid coming?

Hybrid and electric power come up in 57 comments. According to MotorMouth's review notes, a hybrid is planned to arrive when the Atlas Cross Sport goes through its mid-cycle refresh. For 2027, every Canadian model uses the 282 hp turbo four.

Take this to your test drive

If a hybrid matters to you, ask the dealer what Volkswagen Canada has announced about timing before you order.

04

What will it cost?

Price and value come up in 56 comments. Canadian pricing for the 2027 Atlas Cross Sport will be announced closer to the on-sale date at the beginning of 2027. In Canada, Volkswagen is offering three years of complimentary service on its SUVs, including the Atlas Cross Sport, according to MotorMouth's review notes.

Take this to your test drive

Ask the dealer to send the trims and all-in price when they are released, and confirm what the complimentary service covers.

05

What tech comes with it?

Interior and tech come up in 79 comments. A 12.9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 10.25-inch digital driver display are standard, with a 15-inch touchscreen on higher trims. A dial in the centre console controls audio volume, drive modes and the Atmospheres feature, and there are dual MagSafe wireless chargers and five USB-C ports.

Take this to your test drive

Pair your phone on the test drive and try the driver experience dial and the touchscreen while parked.

06

What comes standard inside?

The new cabin uses open-pore natural wood, contrast stitching and three interior colours: black, grey and chestnut brown. Leatherette is standard, with leather and Nappa leather with microfibre inlays available. A power liftgate, 9-speaker audio, rear sunshades, a 12-way front seat with four-way lumbar support and 10-colour ambient lighting are standard. Upper trims add thigh support and front massage, and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system, 30-colour ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof are available.

Take this to your test drive

Sit in more than one trim to compare the seats and upholstery, and check which options you want come with each one.

07

Is it roomy enough with five seats?

Space, cargo and rear seats come up in 18 comments. The 2027 Atlas Cross Sport keeps the same interior space as the outgoing model, with five seats and rear sunshades standard. Its coupe-like roofline is why it is shorter and lower than the three-row Atlas.

Take this to your test drive

Bring car seats and your usual cargo, and check rear headroom and the cargo opening under the sloping roofline.

08

Can it tow, and what driver assistance does it have?

Towing comes up in 17 comments. Every Canadian Atlas Cross Sport has all-wheel drive and can tow 5,000 lb (2,268 kg). The updated Travel Assist offers hands-on semi-automated driving from 0 to 150 km/h (93 mph), with driver-initiated lane changes and Emergency Assist, which can guide the vehicle to the side of the road if it senses a medical emergency. Park Assist is added to the top trim.

Take this to your test drive

Bring the weight of your trailer or boat, ask which hitch and wiring come with the trim you choose, and ask the dealer to show you Travel Assist on the highway.
