The XC90 is Volvo's three-row luxury SUV, refreshed for the 2025.5 model year with a new front, slimmer headlights and a larger, faster 11.2-inch touchscreen, and Volvo Canada now lists it as a 2027 model. Every Canadian XC90 has all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic. The B6 mild hybrid makes 295 hp, according to Volvo Canada. The T8 plug-in hybrid combines a 247 hp gas engine and a 154 hp electric motor for up to 401 hp, with up to 53 km (33 mi) of electric range, according to Volvo Canada. It comes in Core, Plus and Ultra trims, and in Canada the Ultra offers a choice of second-row captain's chairs or a bench. Prices on this page come from Zack and Andrea Spencer's MotorMouth review notes from February 2026; Volvo Canada does not list 2027 MSRPs on its site. MotorMouth's notes also cover a long-range 2028 XC90 plug-in hybrid with a 37.9 kWh battery and up to 117 km (73 mi) of electric range, not yet on sale.

What Canadian shoppers ask

The questions XC90 shoppers bring to the showroom.

Drawn from 886 comments on MotorMouth's XC90 videos posted since 2023 on the MotorMouth YouTube channel. Question themes sit apart from verified vehicle facts and help prepare a more useful test drive.

01

What does it cost?

Price and value come up in 116 comments on MotorMouth's XC90 videos. MotorMouth's February 2026 notes list the B6 mild hybrid at $80,548 for the Core, $83,498 for the Plus and $87,498 for the Ultra, and the T8 plug-in hybrid at $92,548, $95,498 and $100,098. Their December 2025 plug-in hybrid notes say Canadian prices include freight, PDI and fees. Volvo Canada lists the 2027 XC90 with lease and finance examples on its offers page, but no 2027 MSRPs on its site. One owner wrote about the refresh: "I LOVE my XC90. This is just a cherry on top to what is already a great design. Timeless and handsome."

Ask for the 2027 all-in price in writing, and compare it with any remaining earlier stock.

02

B6 or T8?

The plug-in hybrid and electric driving come up in 167 comments. The B6 mild hybrid makes 295 hp and the T8 plug-in hybrid up to 401 hp combined, according to Volvo Canada. The T8 can drive up to 53 km (33 mi) on electricity and costs $12,000 more than the B6 at each trim in MotorMouth's February 2026 prices. MotorMouth's notes also cover a long-range 2028 T8 with up to 117 km (73 mi) of electric range that is not on sale yet.

Take this to your test drive

If you can charge at home and most days are short, drive the T8 in its electric mode; if you mostly drive the highway, compare the B6 on a longer route.

03

How many seats, and how usable is the third row?

Space and seating come up in 27 comments. The XC90 seats six or seven, and the B6 page also lists a five-seat configuration, according to Volvo Canada. In Canada, the Ultra offers second-row captain's chairs or a bench, and the other trims have a bench, according to MotorMouth's notes. Third-row legroom is 810 mm (31.9 in).

Take this to your test drive

Sit in the third row yourself, and if you use child seats, bring them to check the anchors and access.

04

How much cargo space is there?

Cargo space is 297 L (10.5 cu ft) behind the third row, 977 L (34.5 cu ft) behind the second row and up to 2,427 L (85.7 cu ft) overall, according to MotorMouth's notes.

Take this to your test drive

With all three rows up, try loading your stroller or a week of groceries.

05

How much fuel does it use?

Fuel economy comes up in 26 comments. Volvo Canada lists the B6 at 10.4 L/100 km (23 mpg US). The T8 is rated at 3.8 Le/100 km combined, and 9.1 L/100 km (26 mpg US) city and 8.6 L/100 km (27 mpg US) highway with the battery depleted, according to MotorMouth's notes.

Take this to your test drive

Reset the trip computer for your test drive and compare the two powertrains on the same route if you can.

06

How long does the plug-in hybrid take to charge?

The T8 has an 18.8 kWh battery and a 3.7 kW onboard charger, so a full charge on Level 2 takes about five hours. It cannot use DC fast chargers, according to MotorMouth's notes.

Take this to your test drive

Plan on charging overnight at home; ask what a Level 2 installation would cost in your home.

07

Is it ready for a Canadian winter?

Winter and all-wheel drive come up in 14 comments. All-wheel drive, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats are standard, according to MotorMouth's notes, and active air suspension is available. Ground clearance is 224 mm (8.8 in).

Take this to your test drive

Ask about winter tires for the wheel size on the car you are considering; larger wheels cost more to fit.

08

What about technology, towing and warranty?

The cabin and technology come up in 156 comments. An 11.2-inch touchscreen with Google built in is standard, but Apple CarPlay is wired only, according to MotorMouth's February 2026 notes. Harman Kardon and Bowers & Wilkins audio are available. MotorMouth's notes rate the plug-in hybrid to tow 5,000 lb (2,268 kg). The warranty is 4 years or 80,000 km (49,710 mi). One viewer wrote after the 2026 review: "The screen might be faster etc, but no wireless option?"

Take this to your test drive

If you use CarPlay every day, check the cable and port layout; ask for the tow rating of the exact powertrain you want.
